The Ottoman Posts and Telegraph Offices
in Palestine and Sinai
by Norman Collins

This is the most comprehensive work on the postal history of the Ottoman period of Palestine and Sinai produced. It contains the combined research of Norman J Collins FRPSL and the late Anton Steichele.

The book illustrates all known postal seals and postmarks, telegraph seals and marks, registration and A.R. cachets, registration labels, official correspondence seals and censor marks. Also illustrated are all known Ottoman field post seals and postmarks plus field telegraph seals used in Palestine and Sinai.

In addition, forged seals and postmarks, plus bogus postmarks have been included. There are over 500 illustrations in this book.

Furthermore, 131 covers, postcards and documents are illustrated, many of which are the only recorded examples, amongst these one bogus item is shown, plus eight faked or forged items.

Postal rates from 1840 to 1918 are listed, as are services supplied by individual post offices according to Ottoman Post, Telegraph and Telephone Lists for various years.

It is doubtful that this work can ever be superseded.
